Mr. Turner is a third-generation trial lawyer with a natural gift for advocacy and problem solving. His practice focuses on litigation and appellate work in a variety of matters including business disputes and torts, employment, professional negligence, fiduciary liability, construction, and insurance. He is admitted to practice in the courts of the State of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and all federal districts in Texas. Mr. Turner has extensive experience litigating in state and federal district courts. In addition, he has successfully presented numerous appeals in Texas courts and the Fifth Circuit, several of which resulted in published opinions.

Prior to joining Cain & Skarnulis in February 2008, Mr. Turner served as a briefing attorney for the Eleventh Court of Appeals, as Assistant General Counsel to the Governor of Texas, and as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas. At the Governor’s Office, Mr. Turner provided counsel in the areas of local government, natural resources, and open government. During his time with the Attorney General’s office, Mr. Turner managed a substantial litigation docket representing state agencies and officials such as the Secretary of State, Texas Tech University, the Texas Department of Insurance, and various state district judges.

Mr. Turner graduated from Baylor University School of Law where he served as a teaching and research assistant in Baylor’s nationally ranked Practice Court program—described by the Princeton Review as “boot camp” for trial attorneys. Mr. Turner also served as President of the Student Bar Association and as the school’s representative to the State Bar of Texas Law Student Division. Prior to law school, Mr. Turner attended Texas Tech University where he earned a B.S. in Public Relations and was elected to three terms as a Student Senator in the Student Government Association.

Mr. Turner is also active in the community and involved with Austin Young Lawyers Association, Baylor Business Network, Texas Tech Ex-Students Association, and First United Methodist Church of Austin where he serves on the Administrative Board and Board of Trustees. He and his wife Jamie, also a Baylor lawyer, live in Austin with their children, Cameron and Eliza.
